Level B Chemical Protective Clothing (CPC) is characterized by its provision of splash protection while not fully covering the skin. This type of clothing is designed for situations where the concentration and type of airborne substances are known, allowing for a lower level of protection compared to Level A. Level A offers the highest level of protection as it includes both a fully encapsulated suit and high-level respiratory protection, designed to be used in atmospheres that are immediately dangerous to life or health.

In contrast, Level B is sufficient in conditions where the chemicals are not known to be vapors or gases that can be absorbed through the skin, which permits a design that allows for greater movement and ease of use while still protecting against splashes. This distinction in protection aims to balance safety with practicality for scenarios where full encapsulation is not necessary, allowing emergency responders to perform their duties effectively while still remaining protected from potential chemical exposure.
